waren vs. wären – B1/B2

Ein bisschen Theorie

 The difference between waren and wären may seem insignificant, but the two words have very little in common even though they are almost spelled the same.

  • waren is a form of the simple past (Präteritum) used in spoken and written German.

It means “was”. You use it, when you talk about the past.

Beispiel: Ich war gestern im Kino. (I was at the movie theater yesterday.)
