Ein bisschen Theorie
The difference between waren and wären may seem insignificant, but the two words have very little in common even though they are almost spelled the same.
- waren is a form of the simple past (Präteritum) used in spoken and written German.
It means “was”. You use it, when you talk about the past.
Beispiel: Ich war gestern im Kino. (I was at the movie theater yesterday.)
